Introductory session

  • I want to offer you the opportunity to come and see what, the MINDoverWEIGHT or MINDoverCONFIDENCE programmes are all about. You will meet me, gain insight into how the programmes run and learn a little about each session. It gives me the opportunity to explain how we work using Hypnosis, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Neuro Linguistic programming to bring about profound and lasting change.

  • Change that will help you alter the way you think and feel about food so that adjusting your eating habits and being motivated to exercise are so much easier to achieve.

  • Change that will enable you to be free from fear and be unaffected by situations that would previously have caused you anxiety and may have restricted your life in some way.

  • This is also a chance for you to get your questions answered, so that you can decide whether this is the right support for you. The group setting may or may not be what you are looking for, and while I do offer one to one therapy, group work has many advantages not least in keeping the cost down.

Introductory Session — MINDoverWEIGHT

This is a 2 hour session that takes a look at the areas that we cover in the 8 week programme.

What will we discuss?

  • Groupwork — We will talk about the dynamics and the benefits of group work.

  • Homework — This session also allows me to give you insight in to what the expectations are in terms of homework: the work you do between sessions, like tasks or practising techniques.

  • Expectations — I really want to manage your expectations, and make sure you understand, that like many things in life, this works best when you are totally committed and willing to participate to the best of your ability.

  • The Fundamental Psychology of our Relationship with Food — Some basic understanding of the psychological and emotional attachment we have with food.

  • Therapeutic Intervention
    • A brief introduction to Hypnosis.
    • A brief introduction to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
    • A brief introduction to Neuro-Linguistic Programming.

  • An open forum — An opportunity to address any questions or concerns you have.

  • Alternative or additional Support — I am aware that not everyone is suited to Group work, and if you decide it is not for you, I am able to offer the same therapeutic support on a one to one basis.

  • Moving on — Also I will discuss session 9 and beyond where some clients wish to take advantage of further one to one work or ‘The Virtual Gastric Band’.

For Who is this programme suitable?

  • Anxiety, Fear, Lack of Confidence, Shyness, Phobia and Panic attacks are all forms of anxiety that disturb and limit our lives in some way. Most people do not seek help. They cope, often by avoiding the stressful situation and live with the embarrassment, guilt or frustration of not being able to do the things they want.

  • If you are afraid to go for a promotion, to attend family or public functions, to speak in front of work colleagues.

  • Or if you, avoid going to public places, for fear of encountering an object or situation that causes you emotional and physical distress.

  • If you find yourself struggling to attract a partner or are gripped by fear in social situations.

  • If your work related stress is something you can longer leave at the office.

  • If any of these situations describe how you feel, then you would benefit from attending the 5 week programme. Many people just put up with their fear, adjusting their lifestyle to accommodate it. This programme offers you the opportunity, to learn how to really relax, to use proven coping techniques and alter your thinking and behaviour so that the anxiety level is minimised or eradicated altogether.
